Connecting Our Community Through Group Rides and Bicycle Safety
Slow Spokes is a group of friends and family dedicated to promoting the joy of group cycling and bicycle safety across Buffalo, North Tonawanda, and Western New York. Whether you're an experienced rider or just starting out, Slow Spokes is all about connecting cyclists through fun, safe, and social rides.
Slow Spokes is Rolling Into North Tonawanda in 2025
Get ready to ride! The NT Neighborhood Watch is teaming up with Slow Spokes USA, Fattey Beer Co., and Platter’s Chocolate Factory to bring a brand-new weekly community bike ride to North Tonawanda—similar to the popular Slow Spokes Buffalo rides, which will still be going strong!
Slow Spokes North Tonawanda invites cyclists of all skill levels to join fun, inclusive group rides and be part of a stronger community. The NT Neighborhood Watch, also behind projects like the Lumberjack Bike Park, the Dyngus Day Parade, and The Imagination Station, brings a track record of community-building initiatives to this growing cycling group.

What We Do
Slow Spokes USA brings people together through a shared love of cycling. We meet for relaxed group rides on Thursdays at Fattey Beer in North Tonawanda, and on Wednesdays at Old Man River in the City of Tonawanda.
Slow Spokes USA is passionate about supporting local trails and businesses, which is why we’re excited about the major trail projects happening in our community.
In North Tonawanda, the Sweeney Trail Extension and the Erie Canal Bike Path Extension are underway—multi-million-dollar investments that will connect Mayor’s Park to the Botanical Gardens, enhance safety for cyclists and walkers, and tie directly into the Empire State Trail network.
Just nearby, Wheatfield has opened a new 2.5-mile Niagara River Shoreline Trail segment, creating a scenic off-road connection between Gratwick Park and Griffin Park.
These projects not only improve accessibility and recreation but also strengthen the link between neighborhoods, downtown areas, and the waterfront, which is at the heart of what we stand for.
Open Group Rides
Got a ride idea? Slow Spokes welcomes any route you want to share! Whether you're organizing a new route or want to explore your neighborhood, we encourage all members to post and participate in weekday or weekend rides.
Our group is always looking for new adventures and welcomes everyone to join in the fun!

Choose a bike that matches your comfort and intended terrain. Road, hybrid, and mountain bikes offer benefits for different environments.
Preparing for Your Ride
Before heading out, check tire pressure, brakes, and chain for safety. Bring a small repair kit and water bottle and prepared for any surprises.
Staying Safe on the Road
Follow traffic rules, use hand signals, and wear bright or reflective clothing for visibility. Carry a repair kit, ID, and emergency contacts in case of unexpected issues.
